holiday at some point in the year.

The tricky bit is when you have a dog or dogs of your own. Who do you get to look after them while you are away?
For many years my sister looked after our Labrador Twiggy, unfortunately my sister is no longer with us. Then for about eight years we used to use a good service where people came to do house sitting and look after your pets. Sadly, that service went downhill and others that have come along in the same field have not really filled the gap.
Many people in the dog care business that have their own dogs find they face the same predicament. Some may have relatives or friends that are happy to look after their loved pooches, but that can sometimes feel to be a bit of an imposition.
One day I had a bit of a eureka moment, if we all face the same problem why not help each other out?
We decided to use our web site to introduce a facility where people that work in the field caring for dogs to offer an exchange service to look after each other's dogs while they are away on holiday.
The idea would be that two people that work looking after dogs would agree to look after each other's dogs while they are away on a needed holiday for free. It would be down to individuals to work out which house they would stay in. For example the dogs stay at their own home and the sitter comes to stay with their dog or dogs at their house, or the dogs stay with the person caring for them at their own home with their own dogs.
At some point in the future I would like to develop this a bit further into an automated system where people could submit their requirements and others could respond to it online. But to start with it will have to be slightly manual and people could submit their details by email, I could then post them and if there is some interest from somebody I would put them in touch. The basic details would include age, sex and breed of dog(s), the approximate time of year you would like to go on holiday, and your approximate location.
