The tricky bit is when you have a dog or dogs of your own. Who do you get to look after them while you are away?
For many years my sister looked after our Labrador Twiggy, unfortunately my sister is no longer with us. Then for about eight years we used to use a very good service where people came to do house sitting and look after your pets. Sadly, that service went downhill and others that have come along in the same field have not really filled the gap.
People in the dog care business that have their own dogs face the same predicament. Some may have relatives or friends that are happy to look after their beloved pooches, but that can sometimes feel to be a bit of an imposition.
One day I had a bit of a eureka moment, if we all face the same problem why not help each other out?
I decided to use my web site to introduce a facility where people that work caring for dogs offer an exchange service to look after each other's dogs while they are away on holiday.
The idea would be that two people that work looking after dogs would agree to look after each other's dogs while they are away on holiday for free. It would be down to the individuals to work out which house they would stay in. For example the dogs stay at their own home and the sitter comes to stay with their dog or dogs at their house, or the dogs stay with the person caring for them at their own home with their own dogs.
At some point in the future I would like to develop this into a more automated system where people could submit their requirements and others could respond online. But to start with it will have to be slightly manual and people could submit their details by email, I could then post them and if there is interest from somebody I would put them in touch. The basic details would include age, sex and breed of dog(s), the approximate time of year you would like to go on holiday, and your approximate location.
We will take the details you provide and create a page with those details and your email address for other professionals to contact you. Please provide some pictures if you can.
